Herein lies a simple fact. The search for truth is not a venerable career as one might think. As with a novel that begins to entice our fancy, truth can take us places we know not. In LDS society, we brag about how we love all truth, it seems to be one of our hidden mottos; we revere the search for truth. Yet this is not the case.
Take for example scholarship. How many times have you heard that scholars do not know what they are taking about, that they are looking at things from the philosophies of men? There was a time in church history that scholarship was praised. Now, as a society, we trade rhetoric for scholarship. This does not represent the entire church, just the general ignorant masses. We like to think that we can spiritually discern all doctrine and truth. It has always amazed me that we think we know what the bible says even though we don't know anything outside the church manuals.
No knowledge of Hebrew or Greek, No historical context from a linguistic archaeology textual paradigm. How is it we think we are better the Joseph Smith Jr. and the Quorum of the twelve who in the school of the prophet took the time to study Hebrew and Greek. If you do not know that then go back and read your church history again.
This blog is designed is to share knowledge that I have about the doctrine. To avoid any enmity from those who would selfishly retaliate I will go by the name Ammon, for those who know something about Egyptian you get the joke. Anyone is welcome to post yet profanity and unsubstantiated comment will be deleted if deemed lame. There is plenty of censorship in the church, so why should this place be anything different. But I will teach some Hebrew words and correct some misconception of Mormon tradition not congruent with doctrine.
You might ask who am I to pass such judgments. In response I can replay, who are you? What makes someone qualified. A calling? Please, that only pertains to the geography associates with such. A seminary teacher or a institute teacher. Well, if a degree in Spanish or psychology make some one qualified, so that is what most of them have to get them hired in such a position.
A scholar: what is a scholar really but someone trained to think in different forms. The prophet is the only one who can declare new doctrine, this I am not. Yet I could be one or many of these other categories regardless, the material is what it is. That it that.
